Cleaning and chlorination of water storage tanks can be hazardous for both the operators and for people within the building.
Our operatives are not only fully trained in water tank cleaning and tank chlorination, but also in ensuring the safety of everyone whilst cleaning is carried out. All staff carry the CSCS passport to safety and are all CRB checked to ensure confidence when working on site and in areas with vulnerable people.
On arrival at site, our staff will inform the key personnel of any work to be carried out and the consequences to the ongoing water supply whilst the water tank is cleaned. They will complete all relevant work permits and will carry out a full risk assessment prior to starting work. Method statements are also provided prior to starting work.
Continuity of water supply is vital when cleaning storage tanks and our staff are trained to minimise disruption and to ensure, where possible, that the water supply remains uninterrupted.
A full cleaning and chlorination certificate is provided after cleaning and tank disinfection has been carried out. This gives full details of the water tank cleaning and disinfection as well as any problems identified such as missing vermin screens etc.
Water storage tanks themselves are often classed as confined spaces and many of the areas they are located can also be enclosed. To minimise the risk our staff carry and use gas detectors to ensure that a safe working environment is maintained. Forced ventilation is applied where there is any question regarding air quality in the water tank or surrounding area.
